ABOUT THE CHURCH OF PENTECOST

PIWC Greensboro is a branch of the Church of Pentecost located in Greensboro, NC. Over the years, the church has grown into a vibrant, Holy Spirit-filled community. .

The Church of Pentecost is a dynamic, global Pentecostal denomination rooted in the power of the Holy Spirit. Its origins date back to 1937 in Ghana, where Reverend (Rev.) James McKeown, a British missionary from the Apostolic Church, began his ministry. Despite facing challenges, including doctrinal and governance differences with the Apostolic Church, Rev. McKeown’s faith and determination led to the establishment of an independent church in 1953. In 1962, the church was officially renamed the Church of Pentecost, highlighting its focus on Pentecostal doctrine and the empowerment of believers through the Holy Spirit. Guided by a strong sense of mission, the church has experienced significant growth, now present in over 135 countries with millions of members worldwide. Our journey began in Ghana, a country in West Africa, and today, the church has expanded to 170 countries globally. In North Carolina, we are a thriving Pentecostal community with a presence in more than five cities, including Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Hickory, Apex, Durham, Raleigh, Greenville, Rocky Mount, Asheville, Charlotte, Fayetteville, and Wilmington. The Greensboro District encompasses five churches, extending from the Research Triangle Area to Winston-Salem. Our USA headquarters is located in Wayne, New Jersey. Here in Greensboro, we are dedicated to helping individuals improve their lives while preparing for the return of Jesus Christ. We firmly believe that the teachings of Jesus provide the ultimate solutions to the challenges we face today..

The Unity of the Church: The Foundation of the Gospel.

The unity of the Church is essential to fulfilling the mission of the Gospel. Jesus prayed for unity among believers so that the world might believe in Him (John 17:21). The Church is called to be one body, united in Christ, reflecting His love and message to the world. As Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:3, we must “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” This unity is a powerful testimony to the truth of the Gospel and its transformative power. 1 Corinthians 1:10 reminds us: “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you.” Unity strengthens the body of Christ and advances the Gospel message to the world.

  • The church is seen as the body of Christ!.
  • The Church is a community of believers, united in faith, worship, and service to God and each other..
  • The Church is a place of healing, transformation, and spiritual growth, where people encounter God and are equipped for His mission.

The Church has evolved through the fellowship among believers and their willingness to support one another in love and unity. Early C hristians gathered regularly for worship, prayer, and the breaking of bread, fostering a strong sense of community (Acts 2:42-47). As believers shared their God-given gifts, talents, and resources, the Church grew in strength and influence, becoming a vibrant body that served and cared for each other. This mutual support and spiritual connection has remained a key element in the Church’s development, empowering believers to fulfill their God-given purpose and advance His Kingdom together.
